Canterbury Roman Museum

Built around the remains of an original Roman town house with famed for its exquisite mosaics and underfloor heating, the museum includes significant Roman finds and timeline which tracks the journey back in time from present day Canterbury to the original Roman street level.

Explore Canterbury’s Roman history, wander the marketplace and discover objects including rare tools, glass and a hoard of hidden treasure.

Museum highlights include: - Beautifully preserved Roman Floor Mosaic - Rare Soldier’s Helmet from the time of Julius Caesar - Original Hypocaust (under floor heating system) - Exceptional examples of rare Roman glassware.

We offer a variety of interactive activities available for children including try on a toga, make a mosaic, handle real Roman objects, trail sheets and more!
