Elmley National Nature Reserve

The huge (3,300 acre) Elmley National Nature Reserve sits on an island in the Thames.  It is an internationally significant site for wildlife and is open to the public for walks and birdwatching.

Visitors can explore miles of nature trails, and enjoy the huge skies and wilderness views.  Birdwatching higlights include 4 different kinds of owls, plenty of birds of prey including marsh harriers, and huge flocks of wading birds.

It is also a wonderful place for watching hares, particularly in the Spring time.

Guests can stay overnight in Shepherd's huts, and the beautiful Victorian barn can be hired for events.

For the Kent Big Weekend, we are offering a private 4x4 tour of the Reserve with the Estate Manager.  This exclusive tour with visit places not open the the public and offers a unique chance to see some of the UK's best wildlife up close.
